Our Colchester

Our Colchester BID Joins new #shopkind campaign to unite the retail sector to tackle abuse and violence against shopworkers.

Our Colchester BID and Colchester Business Against Crime; COLBAC are supporting the #ShopKind campaign uniting the retail sector to tackle violence and abuse against shopworkers by asking people to ShopKind when in stores.

ShopKind is backed by the Home Office

ShopKind aims to:

  • Encourage positive behaviours in shops
  • Acknowledge the important role of shopworkers
  • Highlight the scale and impact of violence and abuse against shopworkers

Vincent Geaves, Business Crime Liaison Officer at Our Colchester BID says,

"We are asking all retailers in the city to display in their premises #Shopkind materials and on their social media platforms.  The BID have access to the materials you can use so please contact Vincent Geaves, Business Crime Liaison Officer, via email at businesscrime@ourcolchester.co.uk or Michelle Reynolds COLBAC, via email at info@colbac.org."

Michelle Reynolds, COLBAC, commented,

"COLBAC is pleased to be working with OurColchester BID to launch the #ShopKind initiative into Colchester aiming to keep our retail staff and teams safe.  With violence and abuse against shop workers on the increase, we would encourage everyone who experiences any incidents to report this immediately.  By working together and watching out for each other, we can help to keep everyone safe."

If you are a City Centre business that would like to help support the #ShopKind campaign, please get in touch with either Vincent Geaves, or Michelle Reynolds to learn more.
