On Tuesday evening (17.10.2023), Our Colchester Business Improvement District (BID) hosted the Best Bar None Awards at Three Wise Monkeys.

Best Bar None is a national scheme that helps customers identify well-run pubs, bars, clubs and other businesses that serve alcohol. Businesses on the scheme are assessed based on their venue management, staff training, customer welfare and safety.

Twelve Colchester businesses have received Best Bar None Accreditation including; The Bull, Slug & Lettuce, Centurion, Purple Dog, Twisters, Yates, The Marquis, Three Wise Monkeys, Other Monkey Brewing, Mercury Theatre, After Office Hours, and Walkabout. Congratulations to all the businesses that received their well-deserved accreditations.

Additionally, Tuesday’s celebrations saw trophies presented. Selected by an independent judging panel based on the Best Bar None assessments and testimonials, the following awards were announced:

Leisure Recovery Board Highly Commended Award - The Purple Dog

Special Recognition Award for the ENTE Safety and Welfare of Others - Stacey Banner, SOS Bus

Best Bar None Runner Up - Mercury Theatre

Best Bar None Winner - Three Wise Monkeys

Vincent Geaves, Colchester Coordinator for Best Bar None and Business Crime Liason Officer for Our Colchester BID said "It was a pleasure to celebrate the hard work and dedication of the nighttime economy businesses at the Best Bar None Awards. A huge congratulations to the winners, and all who have achieved accreditation.
